The SCNC has several goals for the series::
We want to establish a series of events where stakeholders can come together withcommon purpose and create community. This event does that because it offers familiesthe opportunity to join their students as they fulfill their community service obligations.
One SCNC goal is to raise the profile of the River as a community amenity for Studio City. There is no better way for people to appreciate the River and the open space thatsurrounds it than spending time outside and near the River.
We want to nurture strong relationships between the major players in Studio City andcreate opportunities to work together to better the community.
The Zev Greenway offers a great outdoor classroom. This is one of the largest restoredhabitats around, and it shows that “if you build it they will come.” The Zev was originallycreated with funding from a carbon offset grant due the widening of the 405 Freeway. Thethoughtful selection of native plants has thrived through wet years and drought, andattracts a tremendous number of birds and other animals. The Zev is a great example ofwhat the other sections of the bank could look like along the River through Studio City.
