Upper Franklin Canyon Construction

Beginning in October 2025, LADWP crews will implement work on the Upper Franklin Canyon roadway near the Upper Franklin Canyon Reservoir, off Mulholland Drive. The goal of this project is to repair 2,200 feet of roadway to allow for vehicle and pedestrian access to the rest of the park area. This road repair will also allow for emergency service use in the event of an emergency. A retaining wall will be built on the north side of the road to prevent hillside runoff onto the road. The work in this area is expected to be completed in early 2026. Throughout construction in this area, you can expect the following: 

• Closure of Franklin Canyon Dr. from the North to the South swing gates.
• There will be no vehicle and pedestrian access in order to allow space for construction crews to work and ensure public safety.
• Noise, traffic, and dust in the construction area is to be expected.
• Construction hours: Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with occasional work on Saturdays.
