Public Safety and Homelessness Committee
Jeff Hartwick, Chair
MISSION STATEMENT:
The mission of the Public Safety and Homelessness Committee is to create an ongoing dialog between stakeholders, local law enforcement, and elected leaders in an effort to foster a safe living and working environment for the community, including those who are homeless.
We believe education and information, along with safety tips, emergency preparedness, informed speakers, LAPD updates, and engagement by the community, are ways which can help keep our community safe. We encourage community involvement through the meetings we have, events like National Night Out and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training, and cooperation with neighborhood watches and our Neighborhood Teams program.
The voice of the committee is represented by motions, requests for action, and Community Impact Statements (CIS) presented to the Studio City Neighborhood Council (SCNC). The SCNC gives the final vote of approval.
As homelessness is an important issue in our area, the Public Safety and Homelessness Committee takes an approach of "compassion for the homeless, compliance with our laws, and safety for the public." Committee members will liaise with CD2 and CD4, City, County, and State officials and representatives to help ensure that government resources for encampment cleanups, LAMC 41.18 enforcement, temporary housing, mental health assistance, and other homeless initiatives are being direted to Studio City. The Committee will seek to hold government accountable in the administration and successof these efforts on homelessness.

Agenda Requests
The Public Safety and Homelessness Committee conducts its business by reviewing and prioritizing agenda requests for Board action (generally either in the form of a motion or letter) or announcements submitted by stakeholders, governmental entities and other interested individuals and organizations.
Public Safety and Homelessness Committee Committee has the discretion to postpone a request, refer it to a specific committee for review and recommendation, treat it as an announcement or consider and resolve it as a non-Board administrative matter.
