Adopt A Shelter Month

October is Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month in Los Angeles, featuring special promotions at LA County Animal Care Centers and LA Animal Services. The County of Los Angeles has officially proclaimed this event, offering several adoption incentives, such as the "Read to Rover" program, where reading to a shelter dog can result in your adoption fee being waived.

How to Participate

• Visit a Shelter: Go to a local LA County or LA Animal Services center to meet adoptable pets.
• Read to a Dog: Take part in the "Read to Rover" program by bringing a book and reading to a dog at the shelter, which can waive the adoption fee.
• Check Adoption Events: Watch the LA County Animal Care and Control website and LA Animal Services for special adoption fee promotions throughout October.
