Community Update: Studio City Neighborhood Council Meeting Highlights
The recent Studio City Neighborhood Council Board/Community Meeting saw a large turnout to discuss local redevelopment, public safety, and infrastructure. Here are the key takeaways:
The "Riverwalk at Studio City" Project
A major redevelopment is planned for the commercial stretch adjacent to the LA River.
- Location: The area currently housing Pinz and Carney’s, along with the former Jerry’s Famous Deli and Bed Bath & Beyond sites.
- Next Steps: Following an extensive project presentation and Q&A session, further discussions will proceed at the upcoming Land Use Committee meeting on Thursday April 30@ 7pm. 4024 Radford Avenue MPR-3.
Public Safety & Crime Prevention
In response to a recent surge in local home invasion robberies, the Council addressed community security.
- Expert Advice: LAPD Senior Lead Officer Cesar Gonzalez shared strategies for homeowners to harden their properties against intruders.
- Next Steps: The Public Safety Committee will hold a follow-up meeting to continue developing prevention initiatives.
Ventura Place: Parking & Traffic Solutions
The LA City Council presented a redesign plan to alleviate the "traffic nightmare" on Ventura Place by increasing parking capacity:
- North Side: Parallel parking will transition to angled parking, doubling capacity from 24 to 48 spaces.
- South Side: Parallel parking will be maintained but reduced from 12 spaces to 7 to improve street geometry and flow.
- Net Result: A total gain of 19 parking spaces for the block while preserving all existing intersection turn lanes.
