Project Roomkey is a collaborative effort by the State, County, and the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) to secure hotel and motel rooms for vulnerable people experiencing homelessness.
Dear Stakeholders, Hopefully, you and yours are healthy, and well as we continue to navigate through this pandemic. For the latest updates regarding the pandemic, be sure to check out LA County Health This coming Wednesday, August 19th at 7:00 PM we will hold our monthly Board Meeting and we hope you can join us. You can find our agenda HERE.
Posted on 08/03/20Dear Stakeholders, Happy Monday. It has been a busy few weeks as we work to restart our Sustainability Committee, with two co-chairs, Raduca Kaplan and Melanie Winter, and look at how we can improve other committees. Our Acting Chair for Government Affairs, Lois Weinsaft, has been getting her committee in order with the help of her Vice-Chair, Barry Johnson. I am also close to finalizing my choice for our new Homelessness Committee Chair, news to come soon. If you're interested in joining any committee, please feel free to reach out and send an email to [email protected]

To our friends, neighborhoods, and stakeholders of Studio City,
Tonight, Los Angeles has issued a city-wide curfew for 6pm tonight until 6am, with the exception of those going to/coming from work, emergency services, and those unhoused neighbors who are sheltering in place. Please follow the curfew order for the safety of ourselves and our neighborhood.
I know it's difficult to imagine living under a curfew order on top of the current public health safer-at-home order. It feels overwhelming in this moment, but our fears and anxieties are collectively shared, and you're not alone. Together, even while apart, we can see this through.
If you haven't already, please sign up for NotifyLA to make sure you're getting the latest updates.
Thank you everyone, and stay safe, Studio City.

This is the final week for the program put forward by Feed Folks and the SCNC Public Safety Committee - buy a box or donate a box! This week's box donations will go to St. Joseph's Hospital, the Noho Interfaith Food Pantry, and LAFD Station 78.
Like previous weeks, pick up is easy on Sunday morning through the north entrance of the Weddington Golf & Tennis parking lot on Whitsett Ave. Sometime after ordering, you'll receive an email giving your pickup time and confirmation number.
Please get your orders in by Friday at noon: FeedFolks.store/StudioCity/
Thank you to everyone who has ordered or donated over the last month - your participation has not only helped our local farmers and contributed to our community's nutrition, but also helped test out ways the SCNC can be of service to the neighborhood during a state of emergency.
Stay safe, Studio City!
This upcoming weekend is going to be filled with Studio City neighbors helping one another!
Starting this Saturday, please donate, if you are able, to our food drive benefitting all the great work our friends at the North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry do to support our community. The food drive will be held in the parking lot of the First Christian Church, on the corner of Moorpark and Colfax here in Studio City. Refer to the poster for which items are needed.
And then on Sunday, Feed Folks and the SCNC Public Safety Committee continue the pilot program to help local farmers and deliver donated boxes to first responders and organizations in need. Pick up is easy on Sunday morning through the north entrance of the Weddington Golf & Tennis parking lot on Whitsett Ave. Sometime after ordering, you'll receive an email giving your pickup time and confirmation number.
Please get your orders in by Friday at noon: FeedFolks.store/StudioCity/
And if you haven't already, please find the SCNC on various social media, such as Facebook and Instagram. Not only are our members and volunteers working overtime to distribute information and keep us all up-to-date on the coronavirus, but they're also finding great activities you can do from home, fun virtual meetings and classes, and just general ways to keep positive.
Stay safe, Studio City!

Feed Folks has teamed up with the Studio City Neighborhood Council to create a pilot program during the current state of emergency to deliver fresh produce to Studio City stakeholders through the SCNC's Public Safety Committee's resiliency plan.
You can buy a box or donate a box to someone in need. 100 boxes total for this weekend as the demand and process is stress tested. I bought a box for myself a few weeks ago when we were testing out the basics and it was wonderful to have something to counteract my cravings for junk food during this safer at home order.
Please get your orders in by tomorrow at noon: https://feedfolks.store/studio-city/

Â
We want to hold a Zoom/Call-in meeting tomorrow night to update everyone. I believe the current plan is for myself and Randy Fried (SCNC VP) to run them and moderate everyone’s questions and updates, but more importantly, to just see some friendly faces and meet other neighbors.

Studio City Stakeholders,
Members of the Neighborhood Council are coordinating with volunteers in the area to assist those in need.
If you are elderly, handicapped, or immune compromised, we have volunteers ready to run errands, walk dogs, or simply do wellness checks.
Deployment of LAPD Area Detectives and Front Desk Operations due to COVID-19
In an effort to augment staffing levels, reassure the public, and create a safe environment for our employees, the Los Angeles Police Department is modifying some of our regular services. We ask for your patience during this time, as this shift of resources may impact the public.
Effective immediately, we will be deploying 50 percent of our area detective workforce to uniformed patrol assignments. These dedicated resources will perform high visibility patrols to critical locations throughout our 21 geographic areas, ensuring the safety of the residents and any store operators that may be dealing with very large crowds.
This deployment is not a response to any specific heightened criminal activity. To date, we have experienced very few isolated non-medical calls for service throughout the entire region related to the health emergency. There is no indication that there will be any change to this posture. We have seen Angelenos rise to the occasion by social distancing, good hygiene and sheltering with loved ones.
Also, starting Wednesday, all of our geographic areas will be closing their front desks and walk-up service. This move is an effort to ensure social distancing and do our part to slow the spread of Coronavirus.
Instead of going to your local area station, we are asking the public to use unique email addresses assigned to each of our 21 area front desks. Those emails will be monitored 24/7 and routed to the proper channels. Rest assured, we will still respond to crimes in progress or a crime in need of immediate follow up, as Watch Commanders will dispatch patrol officers to those incidents.
There will be some exceptions to the closures for specific business that requires an in-person meeting including, but not limited to:
-Vehicle/Property Release
-Child Custody Exchanges
-Attorney Visitation (with an individual in custody)
-Bail/Bond Releases
An officer will give specific directions on how those visits will be handled.
These new guidelines will greatly reduce contact between members of the public and Department personnel, hopefully ensuring the health and well-being of our workforce.
The LAPD is committed to providing professional service for our community and keeping our employees healthy, is critical as we continue to protect and serve the people of Los Angeles.

To the stakeholders of Studio City - what a week, huh?
In order to take the precautions necessarily to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, this month's SCNC board meeting is cancelled, as well as any committee meetings until the end of this month. Simple hygiene practices and social distancing are very effective in situations such as this, so all of the neighborhood councils are now operating from the same guidance as the city.
A lot of you are just looking for reliable information on what's going on, so please sign up for NotifyLA for frequent updates and information about the coronavirus including prevention.
For more, I'd like to share some of the information from Mayor Eric Garcetti:
More about what the City is doing:
Here are steps you should take:
Let's move into March, Studio City stakeholders!
Two committees have posted their agendas for this week so far, with:
Monday, February 2, 7PM - Bylaws Committee (agenda)
Wednesday, February 4, 7:30PM - Transportation Committee (agenda)
Both of those meetings will be meeting in our conference room, in Editorial 2, Room 6 on the CBS Studio Center lot, and as always, open to the public. If there are more committees meeting this week, I'll keep you updated as the agendas get posted.
The Cultural Affairs Committee meeting will be postponed by one week (to March 10) as its usual scheduled meeting time conflicts with election day and our dedicated board member and committee chair, Richard Niederberg, will be one of the poll workers - thank you Richard, for your continuous civil service!
Thanks to all the candidates and constituents who participated in our Open Forums over the past week at the Studio City Branch Library. Voting is currently open until March 3rd! To find the nearest voting center near you, visit: https://locator.lavote.net/

Happy President's Day, stakeholders of Studio City, let's get to the updating...
It's the week of our monthly SCNC board meeting, this Wednesday, February 19 at 7pm in building 8, room 3 on the CBS Studio Center lot. As always, all of our meetings are open to the public, so please take a look at this month's agenda and see if anything catches your interest or come join us even if you just want to get a glimpse of how our local government operates!
One item of note, of course, is the filling of the vacant board seat for the At-large stakeholder. Thank you to those who have already submitted your candidacies, and to those still interested, there's still time! If you'd like to throw your hat into the ring, email a brief candidate statement to our Corresponding Secretary, Alexa Steinberg. We ask that all candidates be present at the board meeting so other board members can ask questions and make an informed choice.
But that's not all this week for the SCNC. This Friday, starting at 5:30pm at the Studio City Library, we kick off our Open Forum series for local candidates on the March 3rd ballot. If you have any questions or are a candidate and would like to participate, please contact our Government Affairs Committee chair, Eric Preven.
See you all on Wednesday for the board meeting and thank you for the continued privilege of serving Studio City.

Look out Studio City stakeholders, it's time for some SCNC updates!
First up, let's take a look at some of this week's committee meetings:
Monday, February 10 at 6:30pm, Government Affairs Committee in our conference room in Editorial 2, Room 6. CBS Studio Center. (agenda) (map)
Tuesday, February 11 at 7:30pm, Homelessness Committee in their usual meeting place at the First Christian Church on the corner of Moorpark and Colfax. (agenda)
Wednesday, February 12 at 7:00pm, Land Use Committee in the meeting room where we usually have our board meeting in building 8, room 3. CBS Studio Center. (agenda)(map)
As always, all of our meetings are open to the public, if you're attending one of the meetings on the CBS Studio Center lot, please park in the Sater lot and allow enough time to check in with security and walk directly to the meeting rooms. Maps are attached below this update.
SCNC’s Land Use Committee Chair, Lisa Karadjian would like to thank the tireless effort put forth by the Tujunga Village Neighbors in particular, Elisa Gabrielli and Julie Faubert for having filed and fought for an appeal against the Verizon Cell Tower in our neighborhood. An update will follow as soon as a final decision has been made by City Planning. Residents organizing together to have a voice in their own neighborhoods is one of the best ways local communities stay local and speaks to the purpose of the neighborhood council system.
Additionally, all involved would like to express their gratitude to Assemblymember Adrian Nazarian, Councilmember Krekorian, and their staff for their vital assistance and support. Their staff-members attendance at the hearing was greatly appreciated.
All stakeholders are welcome to attend Wednesday night's Land Use Meeting - 7PM.
Speaking of people getting involved, a reminder that we will be filling a vacant board seat for the At-large stakeholder at our monthly board meeting next week on February 19. If you'd like to throw your hat into the ring, email a brief candidate statement to our Corresponding Secretary, Alexa Steinberg. We ask that all candidates be present at the board meeting so other board members can ask questions and make an informed choice.
With that, I'll sign off for now, and leave you with a sincere thank you for the continued privilege of serving Studio City.

To the friends and stakeholders of Studio City,
Our monthly board meeting is this Wednesday, November 20 at 7pm in our usual meeting room on the CBS Studio Center lot in Building 8 (here's a map on where to park and where to go). This month, we have a special guest – City Councilmember Paul Krekorian, who will give an update on our community and take any questions you may have.
We will, of course, hear updates from our hardworking Committees on the various ways they’ve been making Studio City better for all, and since this will be our last board meeting before our annual Luminaria on December 8th, we will be reaching out to the public for ways you can help with this year’s event.
Please know that all of our meetings are open to the public, and everyone is welcome to attend and give public comment on any issue that affects us here in Studio City. Take a look at this month’s agenda and see if there’s anything that grabs your attention, things that you wish to get more involved in, or even if you just want to grab some light refreshments and see how it all works! Our work is best served when it’s done in close collaboration with everyday members of the public.
One thing that's coming up beforehand, we have a last minute need for two Census Goodwill Ambassadors for the upcoming 2020 census from Studio City. The training is this Tuesday, November 19 from 6:30-8:00pm at Los Angeles City Hall, and we need to make sure that Studio City is counted! You don't even yet need to be directly involved with the SCNC to become one of our census liaisons, so please reach out to me and I'll get you set up. We need all hands on deck to ensure that Los Angeles is properly counted to get the funding and representation that we deserve for the next 10 years.
And finally, if you’d like to stay in touch with the SCNC, our social media presence has come alive, through Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, or you can always directly email me and I can help you reach answers for which you may have questions.
That’s all for now, thank you for the continued privilege of serving Studio City, and I hope to see you all on Wednesday night!

A quick update on how the Studio City Neighborhood Council is doing the work of the community this week!
Tonight, the Outreach Committee meets, led by its new chair, Alli Spotts-De Lazzer - if you've noticed the more engaged SCNC social media presence over the last month, you have Alli to thank. She has been committed to making sure that the stakeholders of Studio City are aware of all of the updates that affect our neighborhood, but she can't do it alone! If you're interested in getting involved helping out, please attend tonight and see how best you can help our outreach efforts.
Tomorrow night is the Land Use Committee meeting, where Lisa Karadjian will be organizing a street cleanup for November 10. Any participation is needed and welcome and is another great way to serve your community and get out and meet your neighbors!
Thursday, we travel outside of our homebase to the Studio City Rec Center in Beeman Park for the Public Safety Committee, in part, for a community discussion on the proposed changes to LAMC 41.18.
In just over a week, we'll be having our monthly board meeting, and part of this month is hosting Department of City Planning to provide an informational update on the launch of the Ventura-Cahuenga Boulevard Corridor Specific Plan amendment process. Please see this FAQ document for the proposed updates and hope to see you at the meeting for any further questions you all may have.
That's all for now! Please don't hesitate to reach out to me for any issues or even if you wanted to have a gentle chat about Studio City. I am always honored everyday I have the privilege of serving our neighborhood, and part of that is hearing from all of the different voices that make up our little corner of Los Angeles.

To the stakeholders of Studio City (that's pretty dry and formal, isn't it?)
I cannot believe that another whole month has gone by and it's now time for our September board meeting this Wednesday - same Studio City time, same Studio City place - 7pm in Building 8 on the CBS Studio Center lot. And get a look at this agenda! Another month of hard work from our volunteers, stakeholders, and committees.
Take a look over the agenda and please join us. Among many things, we'll be hearing from the Clean Water Outreach Team from LA Sanitation & Environment to brief us on an emergency sewer repair and putting forward the proposed revisions to our Bylaws and Operating Procedures.
Also on the agenda is to fill the Residential Renter vacancy (as well as the still-vacant Youth Member position). If you're interested in being considered for the seat on the SCNC Board, email me by noon on Wednesday to throw your hat into the ring! Make sure to be present at the board meeting to field any questions.
Of course, that's not the only way to get involved with the SCNC. If you wanted to be one of our liaisons to the city or wish to join one of our committees, reach out and we can find the right spot for you to help contribute to your community.
I'd like to take this time to thank Alli Spotts-De Lazzer and our Vice President, Randy Fried, for taking on the SCNC website and making it much more approachable and welcoming. More changes coming soon, but we're starting to get rid of all of these cobwebs. If you haven't checked out the website lately, it's definitely worth a look (and a bookmark!)
Thank you to all the stakeholders that emailed me last week about the styles of these updates - I will continue to keep these as lively as I can! This kind of feedback is great and helps us make sure we're getting the right messages across to fit your needs.
And with that, I'll sign off for now and of course, a thank you for the continued privilege of serving the people of Studio City.
